Meet Our Team
Dan “Newf” Kennedy
Dan loves to play outside. He is stoked to be back for his second season at Apex. Being first introduced to the world of whitewater while studying Adventure Tourism, Dan began whitewater kayaking on the rivers of Quebec and learned to raft and guide in British Columbia. Dan's rafting career has also taken him to guiding in both Quebec and Chile. He loves being on the river, but also loves the mountains - skiing, biking and climbing are great passions of his. If you can't find Dan on the river you'll find him in the hills!
Ralph & Debbie Koerber
In 1986 Ralph started working for a rafting company as a bus driver and Guide-In-Training on Toby Creek and the Kicking Horse, Kootenay and White Rivers. The next seven summers were spent guiding on the Kicking Horse River with some shorter stints away on the Ottawa River in Ontario, on the Gauley River in West Virgina and on the Reventazon and Pacuare Rivers in Costa Rica. In 1993 Ralph and Debbie moved to Revelstoke, BC and started Apex Rafting on the Illecillewaet River. After over 20 years on the “Illy”, Ralph has led over 1,400 trips on the river and has shared the Illecillewaet with thousands of fellow adventurers from around the world. Ralph considers himself lucky to have been able to raise a family and live in a community that supports his love of the river.
Danny started guiding with Apex 5 years ago and is now our photographer and driver. He's just as skilled behind the lens as he is on the river. He has been practicing photography for many years and plans to turn his passion into a career. Danny is hooked on the adventure, excitement and scenery of the Illicillewaet River and enjoys capturing those moments on every trip.
Tayla grew up on the banks and waves of the Illicillewaet River. When she turned 18, she received her guiding license and is currently living the dream in BC. She won't be at Apex this summer, but instead she will be spending he time working on the Thompson River. We would like to congratulate Tayla for receiving her guiding license and we can't wait to have her back once she's done rafting around the world.
Mike comes to Revelstoke a seasoned whitewater veteran and we sure are happy to have him. Originally from North Bay, Ontario he has worked as a guide for the past 9 years. Some of his favourite rivers he has worked on include the Hatch River in Hope, BC and the Ahansel River in the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco.
Ryan has spent the majority of his adult life floating down a river somewhere and after many years of bouncing around the world now calls Revelstoke home. He spends his winters skiing and is currently pursuing his mountain guiding certificate through TRU. He enjoys rivers of any sort, riding around on his bike and listening to Newf's endless jokes.
Jonathan ‘Joe’ Holland
Joe is excited for this season, being his seventh season of guiding, and his third season on the Illicillewaet River. He lives for whitewater, having rafted and kayaked all over BC, and can't wait to share his passion with others. Joe loves getting guests out for a great day on the river. He also loves sunsets and long walks on the beach.
Charmaine is an Aussie in Canada who came for a winter season and has now been here for nearly four years. Arriving in Revelstoke for the 2016/17 winter, she fell in love with the town and the surrounding mountains. If she is not in our office at Apex, you will either find her serving tacos at the Taco Club or making the most of the sunshine, mountains and lakes!
Margaret found her love of whitewater as a young teen on the warm rivers of Ontario. She honed her skills as a guide in the Adventure Tourism program at Thompson Rivers University. Since then she's dipped her paddle in rivers all over Quebec, Ontario, BC, Washington, Oregon and the Northwest Territories. After many years of nomadic life, she's settled down in Revelstoke to ski powder in the winter and splash around in the refreshing waters of the Illicillewaet this summer.
Emily moved from Kamloops only a few months ago and will be spending her summer in Revelstoke with Apex as our new office staff member. She was mesmerized by the picturesque scenery and by the quaint and charming town. Emily hopes to call Revelstoke home one day, after she graduates with her Bachelor of Education.
Issac has 15 years of experience rafting which has earned him the nickname, “River Master”. Guiding has taken him all over Central and Southern BC, as well as Central America. When Issac, isn’t on the water, you can find him in his kitchen cooking with food from his garden. He also loves to spend time outdoors whether it is biking, fishing, canoeing, or rock climbing! Safe to say that this guy does it all!
