Family Run Rafting Company
Apex Rafting Company is a local family run rafting company that was started back in 1993 and is still operated by Ralph Koerber and his wife Debbie.
In 1986 Ralph started working for a rafting company as a bus driver and guide-in-training on Toby Creek and the Kicking Horse, Kootenay and White Rivers, all in south eastern British Columbia. The next 7 summers were spent guiding on the Kicking Horse River with some shorter stints away on the Ottawa River in Ontario, on the Gauley River in West Virgina and on the Reventazon and Pacuare rivers in Costa Rica.
Ralph met Debbie at the Glacier warehouse in Golden BC while Ralph was there guiding and Debbie was working for the local photographer on the Kicking Horse River. In 1993 Ralph and Debbie moved to Revelstoke, BC and started Apex Rafting on the Illecillewaet River. They were just two young kids with a van and a boat. Now after over 25 years on the Illy Ralph has led over 1400 trips on the river. Debbie enjoys the river from her kayak as well as from behind her camera. They have shared the llecillewaet with thousands of fellow adventurers from around the world. They consider themselves lucky to have been able to raise a family and live in a community that supports their love of the river. Their son, Matthew, is a local kayaker. Their daughter, Tayla, is a river guide herself. And their youngest daughter, Josi, can be found enjoying the whitewater beside her dad in rafts.
They’ve shared this river with family and friends for over two decades and look forward to sharing it with you!
